New to Meribel?
Here is a little information about the village where Magic gave their first ski lessons over 21 years ago.
Meribel: the heart of the 3 Valleys
Meribel is a pretty ski resort nestled in the Tarentaise area of the northern French Alps. At the heart of the Three Valleys a ski area that boasts to be the largest in the world with over 600kms of pistes.
Meribel really does have something for everyone, a great family resort, fun nightlife for those that like to party and just about all levels of skiers are catered for. For the bad weather days (although you really should be on the slopes as there is nothing like poor visability to work on your balance and technique) there is a 25m swimming pool, a gym, an ice rink, a spa, a climbing wall, a cinema and more.
The Skiing (after all that's what it is all about)
Beginner's will find that Meribel is a great place to learn to ski, with a gentle nursury slope through the forest reserved especially for first timers (no maniacs speeding past), then you can progress onto the green slopes of the altiport.
There are plenty of blues and easy reds for the intermediate skier - from the nervous to the more competent.
As for advanced skiers with the 600km of runs in the Three Valleys there is plenty to keep you busy, from the beautiful Mont Vallon at the end of the Meribel valley to the far side of Val Thorens and down into the fourth valley of Orelle numerous black runs some with bumps some without or there are the "couloirs" accessible from the Saulire lift on the Courchevel side. If you are thinking of venturing off piste then don't forget to contact us to book your instructor (and make sure that your insurance covers you, not all do).
The only resort in the world to offer you 15 bubble lifts, along with 19 chairlifts, 14 drag lifts, 8 childrens lifts and a rolling carpet.
• 150 km of pistes and 28 km of itinaries !
• 8 black runs, 24 reds, 34 blues, 8 greens.
• 2 olympique runs, 2 slalom stadiums.
• 2 snowboard and ski parks.
Meribel it is 75% of the area above 1800m.
Grooming the pistes
Meribel has 723 snow guns covering 42 % of the area) allowing them to add to the snow cover if necessary, and 25 "piste bashers" to groom the pistes overnight.
